Can foreigners enter Syria from Turkey by land in 2026?

I can fly to Istanbul cheaply. Bab al-Hawa looks close on the map. Facebook posts talk about crossings reopening for Turks and for Syrians with residence. Indian passport, UK residence card, no Syrian papers. Is Cilvegözü a tourist visa desk now, or do I still have to fly into Damascus or go via Beirut or Amman?

No. Not as an ordinary foreign tourist. The Syrian consulate in Istanbul said non-Syrian citizens do not use the Turkey land posts. Independents in summer 2026 still treat overland Turkey as a Syrian or Turkish-national door, not Masnaa. Some 2026 openings are for Turkish citizens and for Syrians with residence or dual papers. That is not an Indian passport plus a UK card. Cilvegözü / Bab al-Hawa is not a visa-on-arrival window for you. Fly Istanbul to DAM or ALP if the airline will board you, or go via Beirut or Amman. Dual Syrian papers are a different desk. I will not send you to Hatay on a Facebook rumour.
