Is evisa.sy working or do I still pay at the border?

French passport. GOV.UK still talks about an online Syria application of five to seven days. Smartraveller says apply electronically. Then I open evisa.sy and it looks half-built. A site in my search results wants a card payment and a “ministry portal” wait. That smells wrong. Do I fill something online before I fly, or do I just bring dollars to Masnaa?

Do not pay evisa.sy. It is not a tourist form you complete. We opened it on 13 September 2026. The title was “EVisa Comming Soon.” The page said قريباً / Coming Soon. No application. The certificate failed. In Your Pocket called it dead in summer 2026. GOV.UK and Smartraveller still mention an online application of several days. We could not confirm that portal as a working tourist route. A site that sells you a “ministry portal,” a wait, and a card charge: close it. A pre-approval letter for a flagged nationality is not an e-visa either. French passports pay about US$75 cash at Masnaa, Nassib, or DAM when the airline boards you. Bring clean dollars. That is the stamp.
