My Syrian visa is 15 days — how do I extend it in Damascus?
Belgian passport. Land stamp last week: 15 days. I planned three weeks. The window did not want a discussion.
I keep seeing Marjeh / Idaret al-Hijra. Is that a morning errand or a two-day file? Do they want photos, a hotel letter, a tour voucher? And if I go on day two, do I burn the days I already have?
I would rather extend than overstay and argue at the exit.

Yes, you extend. You do not need a tour voucher.
Immigration and Passport Administration — Idaret al-Hijra — in Marjeh, central Damascus. Ask the hotel by that name. Do not go to the Syrian-passport queues in Baramkeh. Wrong building.
Go a few days before the stamp expires, in the morning, not on day two. Independent 2026 notes: the new period starts the day they stamp. A Belgian 15-day stamp this month took about an hour in Damascus. In Your Pocket said one to two hours. Passport, entry stamp, hotel name written down. Some other-city offices have asked for a hotel letter; Damascus notes this year did not freeze photos. Cash pounds or a few dollars. We will not publish one fee. Check the new date before you leave the building.
Do not overstay. Some people report a small exit fine. It is still illegal. If the desk says no, leaving and collecting a new stamp is the other door — not a right.
