Getting there

On the M5, about 160 km north of Damascus, about two to two and a half hours plus checkpoints. Shared vans and Pullman buses leave from Harasta or al-Abbasiyeen. A March 2026 Arabic garage survey had 50–70 thousand pounds to Homs; independent notes disagree on the raw number. Ask new or old. There is no airport. Do not plan a train. Inside the centre, walk. Wikivoyage in December 2025 and an independent thread named the southern garage for Palmyra. Taxi from the centre; the bays are not Clock Square. Ask the hotel which bay runs west to Krak or the coast, which east, and which north to Aleppo. Confirm that bay the night before. Confirm the last seat that morning.
