Clock Square
Clock Square — Saahat al-Saa — is the sleeping centre of Homs. Sleep and eat here. Taxi to the garage from here; the bays are not this square. Confirm which bay the night before: west for Krak, east for Palmyra, north for Aleppo. Not a monument list. Krak is a west morning; Palmyra the other day. The mosque evening is a different page. - The streets are always there. This is the New Clock at the western end of Quwatli Street, not the Old Clock at Martyrs’ Square. The garages are not this square — taxi. Confirm the bay the night before: west for Krak or the coast, east for Palmyra, north for Aleppo. Sleep in the centre around this square, not the Inshaat hotels. There is no visitor timetable.

- It is a neighbourhood. Do not treat the square as a set. Cash pounds in the lanes; ask new or old if you name a fare. You do not need a tour to sleep or eat here. You do not need a monument list.
