Latakia, Syria: extra nights after Homs or Aleppo, not the seven-day. Walk the corniche. Independent travellers do this without a tour. On a public beach, covering swimwear — that note is on What to wear in Syria. Hotel pools have been different; confirm at the door. Ugarit is a morning north if you stay. Cash pounds in the lanes.

Getting there

West of Homs, not the M5 north. Driving lists about 175–180 km; about two to three hours plus checkpoints. Damascus is longer: maps and hire desks disagree on kilometres (about 300–350); time is about four to five hours plus checkpoints. Shared vans and Pullman leave from Harasta or al-Abbasiyeen. A March 2026 Arabic garage survey had 135 thousand pounds to Latakia; later Arabic reporting had lower quotes from other bays. Ask new or old. Arabic reporting and independent notes still named a Pullman garage in Latakia. Ask the hotel which bay. From Aleppo it is a couple of hours west. A fare on a page is not the window. Last seats are not a timetable. The seven-day line on this site skips this. Getting around Syria has the M5; this page is the other holiday.

A day here

  1. 1Leave Homs west, or Damascus via Homs. Sleep extra nights. Not the seven-day.
  2. 2Walk the corniche. Evening. No ticket. Cash pounds. Seafood if you want it.
  3. 3Public beach: covering swimwear; men a shirt off the water. Hotel pool different. Confirm at the door. That note is on What to wear in Syria.
  4. 4Ugarit is a morning north if you stay — taxi, about 15–20 minutes, a mound not the corniche. Hours, cash, and Tuesday are on that site. Extra nights, not the seven-day.
  5. 5Do not add Krak or Saladin castle on this day. Krak is a day from Homs. Operator 2026 listed Saladin castle by appointment. Tartus is an hour south if you stay on the coast — that boat day is on the Tartus page.
