Ruin
Ugarit
Ugarit (Ras Shamra) is a morning from Latakia, not from Homs. A mound about 10–15 km north, not the corniche. Taxi or a hired car, about 15–20 minutes. Agree the taxi waits. Independent travellers do this without a tour. Extra nights on the coast, not the seven-day. Hours still disagree; Tuesday closures are common. Cash pounds if they collect. Long sleeves for thorns. An early alphabet was used here. Checked 13 September 2026.

- Hours
- Hours still disagree in 2026: one operator list has 09:00–16:00; the same operator’s attractions sheet has summer 09:00–18:00 and winter 09:00–15:00. Tuesday closures are common on those lists. Confirm at the gate.
- Ticket
- Cash pounds if they collect. One 2026 operator sheet put it in the first-grade band; the January 2026 circular excerpt, as that operator published it, did not name Ugarit. Arabic visitors in July 2026 found a small office selling tickets at the mound; they printed no figure. Ask new or old. Do not convert a guess to dollars. Confirm at the gate.
- Respect
- A ruin field. One 2026 operator note said long sleeves for thorns. Arabic visitors in July 2026 found the paths overgrown. Stay on the path. Do not treat the mound as a set.
