Will Flydubai board me to Damascus without a visa?
Canadian passport. DXB–DAM in September, already paid. Flydubai’s site talks about an “OK to board” letter. Reddit is split: some Canadians say they paid cash at DAM, others say Dubai would not let them check in.
I do not have a Syrian letter. I also do not have three days to sit in an agency. If they want a visa number at the desk, I would rather know now and move the ticket to Beirut.
Has anyone been boarded on Flydubai this year as visa-on-arrival, or is that the airline that still treats the old manual as law?

Treat Flydubai as the airline that still gets this wrong, until they tell you otherwise in writing.
The “OK to board” page on their site is for named nationalities: Egypt, Iraq, Russia, Sudan, Yemen — plus interline/codeshare paperwork. A Canadian passport is not on that list. Your problem is different: check-in staff whose manual still wants a visa number before DAM.
Syria will usually stamp a Canadian at the airport or at Masnaa for about US$100 cash. That is not a boarding pass. Independents in 2026 still name Flydubai and Jet Airways as the desks that bounce people. TK, AJet, Royal Jordanian, DanAir are the names that usually apply visa-on-arrival.
Call Flydubai and ask, in writing, whether they board a Canadian as visa-on-arrival on your date. If they will not, do not go to the gate to win an argument. Move the ticket to Beirut or Amman.
