Three days in Damascus, Syria is three nights inside the walls: the stamp, one old-city day, a Maaloula morning, then the road out. You do not go to Homs, Aleppo, Krak or Palmyra. A 15-day stamp covers it. The week north is a different page.
Damascus (three nights)

Three nights in Damascus. You walk the old city on one of them. Maaloula is a morning, then back. You do not need a tour. You do not book a northbound garage.

Do I need a tour for three days in Damascus?
No. Ordinary US, British, EU, Canadian and Australian passports collect the stamp at the land desk, then walk this line independently. Operators still sell a two-night Beirut loop as “three days in Syria.” That is their product. This page is three nights inside the walls.
Is 3 days enough in Damascus?
Yes for the capital: the stamp, the old city, and Maaloula as a morning. It is not enough for Aleppo, Krak des Chevaliers, or Palmyra. Those sit on the 7-day Syria itinerary.
Day 1 — Arrive in Damascus
This trip is Damascus only. Come in from Beirut or Amman by road, or from Damascus airport if the airline boarded you. Pay the taxi in cash and agree the fare before you sit. From the airport it is about half an hour.
Sleep inside the walls — Bab Touma or the souq. Walk in the evening only; you may have spent the day at the crossing. Check the stamp before you leave the desk: 15 days or 30. Airport arrivals more often get 15; either covers three nights. Crossing hours and fares are on How to get to Syria.
Leave Hamidiyya for tomorrow. Do not book a northbound garage.
Day 2 — Old city in Damascus
Start Hamidiyya from the citadel end — that is where the taxi drops. Some lists start at Bab Sharqi and walk west; same line, the other way. Then the Umayyad Mosque. Azem Palace and Khan As’ad Pasha if they are open — often closed Tuesday. Keep a scarf in the bag; shoes off at the mosque. Pay in pounds; ask whether the number is new or old.
Straight Street toward Bab Sharqi. Chapel of Ananias is a short drop if you want it. Evening in Bab Touma. The mosque, the souq, and the closed day are on Damascus.
Skip the National Museum today. It is a taxi west of the walls, and the closed day still disagrees: Friday on a 2026 operator table, Tuesday in an independent 8 September 2026 note. Confirm if you go on the fallback. Do not add Qasioun today. You have a Maaloula morning tomorrow.
Day 3 — Maaloula, then the road
Maaloula is a morning from Damascus in a shared van or a hired car, then back. It is not the M5. Ask the hotel which bay runs to Maaloula — not the Homs bay. Last seats back have been around 2 or 3 pm in a September 2026 independent note; that is a note, not a timetable. Confirm that morning.
Do not add Saydnaya unless the hired car waits. Independent 2025 hired-car quotes sat around US$20 for Saydnaya alone, about US$60–80 if you add Maaloula. There is no shared van between the two villages. Do not add Bosra, Krak, or Palmyra. Sleep in Damascus.

What if Maaloula does not run?
Stay inside the walls, or take a taxi west to the National Museum — confirm the closed day before you cross town. Reports still fight Friday versus Tuesday. Qasioun is a view taxi, not a requirement — that note is on Damascus. Do not invent a Palmyra morning from here.
Can I add Palmyra, Krak or Aleppo to this 3-day itinerary?
Not on these three nights. Palmyra is a day from Homs. Krak des Chevaliers is a day from Homs. Bosra is south, a different morning. If you have a week, use the 7-day Syria itinerary.
