Great Colonnade
The Palmyra colonnade is the walk at the Palmyra ruins (Tadmur) — independently, a day from Homs. Start at one end. Stay on the path they open. Heat, no shade. Water from the car. Walk daylight. No gate fee for now — confirm at the edge. Skip the tombs and the hill castle. Do not taxi to the museum; it is closed. Checked 13 September 2026.

- Hours
- Hours still disagree in 2026: operator lists sunrise to sunset in the sectors they open; Wikivoyage in December 2025 said the stones were open around the clock. Walk in daylight. Last seats back to Homs are a city note, not a timetable here. Confirm at the edge.
- Ticket
- DGAM’s 2026 fee circular, as operators published it, listed Palmyra among sites with no gate fee for now. Wikivoyage in December 2025 said the same. Some visitor pages still invent a cash ticket. Confirm at the edge. Cash pounds if they have started collecting. Ask new or old. Do not convert a guess to dollars.
- Respect
- Stay on the path. Parts are roped off. Do not climb the columns. Do not treat the street as a set. Checkpoints on the road in: papers out, no photographs of uniforms.
