Temple of Bel
The Temple of Bel at Palmyra is still on the marked site. The walls and the gate are the visit. The hall inside is gone. If they rope it off, keep walking. This is not the hill castle and not the tombs. Checked 13 September 2026.
- Hours
- Same daylight as the colonnade. There is no temple-only clock. Operator 2026 lists: sunrise to sunset in the sectors they open. Wikivoyage in December 2025 said the stones were open around the clock. Parts of the precinct may be closed. Confirm at the rope.
- Ticket
- Same as the Palmyra site. There is no temple-only fee. DGAM’s 2026 fee circular listed Palmyra among sites with no gate fee for now. Wikivoyage in December 2025 said the same. Confirm at the edge. Cash pounds if they have started collecting. Ask new or old.
- Respect
- Stay on the path. Do not climb the walls. Do not treat the stones as a set. If they rope it off, keep walking.
