Souq

Souq al-Madina

Covered bazaar under the citadel. You walk it after the mound. No ticket to walk it. Aleppo soap is still what people take if they buy; spices and copper if the shop is open. First shops quote tourist prices — walk in. Cash pounds; ask new or old. Parts of the vaults are shops, parts are empty — walk what is open. Do not film shopkeepers as if they were a set. The scarf stays in the bag until the Great Mosque door. That door is a different page. Checked 13 September 2026.

Hours
Hours still disagree in 2026: operator lists Khan al-Wazir and Souk al-Madina 09:00–19:00, no closed day except Eid. A visitor page says morning to early afternoon, shops close by sunset, Friday quieter with some shut for prayer. Another 2026 city page: arrive 10:00–noon; after 16:00 many stalls close for evening prayer. Aggregators print 09:00–20:00 daily. Confirm the lane that morning.

Agree a price before it is wrapped. Cash pounds; ask new or old. Do not buy in the first shops. Do not film shopkeepers as if they were a set. The scarf stays in the bag until the Great Mosque door. You do not need a tour to walk the lanes.
